the idea of auctionning the whisky and donating the proceeds to a local charity (or school??) is an excellent one!
A lot of care goes into making whisky - I visited a distillery in Scotland a few years ago (and there were free samples for visitors!!!).

as many of you may or may not remember last year we had a "frosty" who was attacked by jws next door.
Probably not until the middle of December, but that is because we are having building work done right now and I am not sure how to get brick dust out of a christmas tree and tinsel!
Hopefully it will all be done by mid December so that all the christmas decorations can go up!!!

I did go along to donate a while ago, but was turned away because my weight was so low it wouldn't be good for me to donate.
I am not dieting or anything like that, I just don't seem to be able to put weight on.
So the answer is yes I tried, but no they didn't accept it.
again it ran in the sunday edition - i hope that a few people might be 'forewarned' and thus 'forearmed' against the jw religion.

The belief goes that god does not do anything to rid the world of satan because to do so would not suit his form of justice.
I just think that if god exists he has a misplaced ego the size of a planet with no shred of warmth, kindness, love or empathy.
An illustration I have used when JWs call is this:
If a patient went to see a doctor (Doctor X) with a severe illness. Doctor X says "yes I know what is causing this, and I think what will happen if we don't treat it is that the patient will suffer years of pain and trauma followed by death. Although my colleague, Dr Y believes that the patient won't suffer. However, I have spent years studying this kind of illness and I am convinced that I am right. There is an easy way to cure this, but I want to be proved right. I want to prove Dr Y to be wrong".
Dr X proves to be right, the patient suffers years of pain and eventually dies through lack of treatment.
Wouldn't the patient's family sue the doctor for failing in the duty of care he owes to his patient? In fact it could be argued that failure to act is negligence which is a criminal offence punishable by a prison sentence.
god is acting in exactly the same way as Doctor X. He knows what is happening, he knows how to put it right, he has the means at his disposal, yet he fails to act.
in my book god is guilty of Criminal negligence.

the watchtower did not wait too long to make factor viii a conscience matter for haemophiliac men.
i believe it happened inthe late 1970's but i'm sure someone would correct me if i am wrong on the date.. but, the blanket blood ban continues and women are still dying in childbirth unncecessarily around the world because they are jws.
if the boot were on the other foot, would blood transfusion be a conscience matter by now to keep jw men safe?.

A MOTORCYCLIST died after refusing to have a life-saving blood transfusion, an inquest heard.
Peter Hughes, age 56, of (Address), was taken to the Conquest on 16 February after being involved in a collision on Queensway.
He was conscious on arriving in hospital but his condition declined rapidly and he died after refusing a blood transfusion on religious grounds.
Pathologist Ian Hawley said Hughes had a serious fracture of the pelvis but had a more than 50 per cent chance of survival if he had accepted the transfusion.
He said: "The major organs were all intact so it is probable he would have survived, and been ambulant if disabled."
Hughes was travelling north at approximately 6pm when a car pulled out in front of him at the Crowhurst Road junction.
Carolyn Finkler, who was driving behind Hughes, gave evidence at Wednesday's inquest.
She said: "He was going slowly, driving very, very carefully considering it was national speed limit.
"I remember thinking it was difficult to see him because everything, his bike and clothes, was black."
She described seeing a car pull out of Crowhurst Road and seeing a collision, which sent Hughes flying over the bonnet of the contact car.
He was still conscious after the accident and told onlookers that he was in agony, saying: 'Why did somebody hit me? I had my lights on.'
Angela Dyer, who was driving the car that Hughes hit, said she had not seen him.
She said: "I remember seeing a car a bit further down the road, but I thought I had enough time to safely pull out."
PC Lane, a Sussex Police crash investigation officer said it was possible the motor cycle light could have merged with the lights of the car behind, giving the impression that there was no bike at all.
Recording a verdict of accidental death, coroner Alan Craze said: "Sadly there are a huge number of motorcycle crashes in the county.
"Bikes represent only one in a 100 of all road journeys, but are involved in one in three road deaths.

I agree with Prefect - you cannot cite The Sun or News of the World as necessarily containing all the correct factual details on a matter, but the comments from readers do give you a feel for how people in general are taking this news.
The phrases "cranky religion", "religion kills" and "he needs a brain transfusion" are used frequently amongst people who have posted comments on The Sun website.
I bet the JW field ministry is going to be extraordinarily difficult from now on!

I have just done a search on the BBC website, and the local Shropshire news pages, but nothing so far about a claim against the hospital.
That doesn't, of course, mean that there won't be an attempt by some sadly misguided JWs to sue a hospital whose hands were tied as they had to be law comply with the consent form that had been signed by the patient.
But perhaps their attempts to "kick back" at this outcome may make some of them reason the serious nature of this dangerous "no blood" belief.
People die from following it.
Anyone else remember the May 2004 Awake that had pictures of children on that died due to their parents refusing blood on their behalf?
